So today we are going to speak about arts, theatre in particular. And our lesson will be devoted to London theatres. To my mind, every educated person must visit theatres as it is the best place to develop aesthetic taste.

And now let’s relax. Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Breathe in. Breathe out. You have no troubles. No serious problems. You are quiet. Your brain is relaxed. There is calm in your body. Nothing diverts your attention. You are relaxing. Your troubles flew away. The world  is full of wonders. You can do anything. You are sure of yourseves, that you have much energy. You are in a good mood. 
Уоu cаn see a magic theatre. We are going to this theatre. Theatre is a wonderful place. There are many actors and actresses there. They perform different plays. Now you can see four rooms indoors. These rooms have electric signboards. 
Let`s read their titles. The first one is OPERA, the second – DRAMA, the third - BALLET and the fourth - MUSICAL. We`ve arrived at a most wondrous and glorious time. The master of ceremonies has announced about the most famous performance in the world «Romeo and Juliet» by W. Shakespeare . It is a wonderful performance. Our seats are in the first row. We enjoy every minute of the play. The actors are really very good, especially the actress playing Juliet. Romeo is handsome. Juliet is pretty. Her dress is beautiful. They make us to live through that  tragic feelings of these young people. Nevertheless we like Shakespeare's plays. We`ve always wanted to see «Romeo and Juliet» in the theatre.
And now feel your feet, your hands. Turn your head. You are in the classroom. You are fine. Smile, please and open your eyes.
III. Символьний етап

What kind of rooms did you see? 
Who are the main characters of the performance?
What can you say about Romeo (Juliet)? etc. 
Opera, ballet, musical, drama are genres of theatrical performance.

2. Let`s imagine that you are famous actors.

3. Now let’s listen to and look at some of the most successful  musicals.
One of them is “Lady in the Dark”.

What are the main parts of the play?
What is the title of the musical?
What is it about?
Do you like musical performances? etc.

V. Лінгвістичний етап
1. Brainstorming. Мозковий штурм
We’ll combine two groups. The first group fills in the spidergram “Theatre” with the main question “What kinds of theatres do you know?” and the second group fills in the spidegram “Types of plays”, answering the question “What types of plays are performed in the theatre?”. You have one minute. 
Key 1: puppet, opera and ballet, drama, youth, professional, amateur.
Key 2: comedy, opera, ballet, tragedy, musical, drama, pantomime.
1. Look at the screen and guess what genre of theatrical performance is used.   
(Opera, ballet, musical, drama)
3. Work in pairs.
